Humble yourself

Humble yourself

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”
1 Peter‬ 5:6-7‬ ESV‬‬
This is a familiar verse for most of us , we would have heard this verse plenty of times we might have memorised in Sunday classes and heard in sermons.

No matter how actively we practice our spiritual life with prayers, bible study and worship.
But when we burden ourselves with our weakness, worries , fear about our inabilities, strive hard to overcome temptation , hasty in our decisions, too proud about ourselves , our life, career and earnings. We don’t humble ourselves before God but rather we are boastful about our competence.

We know from God’s word that God resist the proud and gives grace to the humble.
To be humble is the ability to be without pride, pretentious and self pity. We might be the best parent , good orator, religious Christian ,great mathematicians, skilled worker, talented artists it doesn’t matter who we are , we cannot say we humble before God unless we let God take control in our lives and give Him all the praise and glory that belong to God alone.

When we Humble before God we accept our inability, our weakness ,our lack of knowledge and wisdom. As it says in Proverbs 22:4 Humility is the fear of the Lord;it’s wages are riches and honour.

Though we are sinners yet, God by His abundance of love towards us gave His only son Jesus as a living sacrifice, so that through Him and in Him we get the redemption salvation and access His glory.

Jesus humbled.
Though Jesus had the authority to ask God the father for thousands of angels to protect yet , He humbled Himself on the cross , Jesus allowed God’s plan to be fulfilled.

As Philippians 2 :6-8
Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross

God exalted Jesus
Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
Philippians‬ 2:9-11‬ ESV‬‬

God wants us to humble ourselves before Him but because our God is mightier than our circumstances, God has good plans for us so we can relish in His favour.
“Jeremiah 29:11 says “ For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
When we truly worship Him we humble ourselves before Him.
