Cottage Prayer

GGIC Cottage Prayer Meeting is a small gathering of church members or believers in someone’s home, often referred to as a “cottage.” and sometimes on zoom meeting based on convenience. These meetings are usually held to pray together, study the Bible, and share fellowship in a more personal and informal setting compared to larger church services. The term “cottage” refers to the cozy and welcoming atmosphere of these gatherings, which can foster closer relationships and a sense of community among participants.
Location: Held in a member’s home, providing a warm and inviting atmosphere and sometimes on zoom meeting

Time: Usually on a Friday evening starts at 7pm

Focus on Prayer:
Central to the gathering is communal prayer, where attendees pray for each other, the church, and any specific needs or concerns.

Bible Study: Often, a short Bible study or devotional is included, with discussions that encourage deeper understanding and personal reflection.

Fellowship: These meetings offer an opportunity for believers to connect on a more personal level, sharing their lives and faith journeys.

Worship: Depending on the group, there might be some time set aside for singing hymns or worship songs.
Cottage Prayer Meetings are often seen as a way to strengthen the church community, build relationships, and provide support to one another in a more relaxed and personal environment.

Our weekly cottage prayer sessions serve as a dedicated time for praise, intercession, and reflection on the Word. These gatherings are centered around praying for our church and nation, offering a platform for members to support one another and the wider community through prayer. It’s a time when we collectively believe in the power of prayer to transform the impossible into possible, breaking chains and fostering miracles. The impact of these focused prayers is profound, with numerous testimonies highlighting how they magnify God’s name and fortify spirits.

Originally, these prayer meetings began as small gatherings in the homes of our congregation members, known as cottage prayers, occurring once a week. However, the advent of the Covid pandemic necessitated a shift to online sessions. Despite the challenges, this transition has facilitated growth within our church community, allowing us to maintain and even expand our prayer sessions.

While the online format has been effective, there’s a growing desire among us to return to our roots with cottage prayers, fostering more intimate and personal connections. We remain hopeful and confident in God’s guidance to pave the way for this transition. Each session commences with praises to God and concludes with a brief message from the Scripture, encapsulating a time of spiritual upliftment and communal support.
